Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing lies at the heart of our practice. Somatic Experiencing is the life work of Dr Peter Levine PHD . This therapeutic approach focuses on releasing and resolving the effects of trauma and stress held within the body.

The approach looks at the biophysical rather than the psychological effects of trauma on the body and its nervous system. I guide clients through a gentle, mindful exploration of physical sensations, emotions, and nervous system responses. By fostering a safe and supportive environment, I assist individuals in unlocking the body's innate ability to restore balance and resilience.

Clients discover a new capacity for holding what life brings. People suffering from PTSD and Chronic pain can benefit greatly from this treatment process which addresses trauma from a body-centered approach rather than a psychological one.

Pricing:
I am still a student in this modality as it takes three years to become certified and I am in my last year. Because I'm still a student I am offering sessions for Somatic Experiencing at $65 an hour.

Myofascial Release

My approach extends beyond addressing nervous system dysfunction. I incorporate myofascial release techniques to release tension and restrictions within the body’s connective tissue known as fascia, promoting improved mobility, posture, and overall well-being. Additionally, postural alignment is a key element of my methodology. By working with clients to achieve optimal alignment, I help alleviate chronic pain, improve chronic dysfunctional movement patterns, and enhance body awareness.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels and nerves, binding structures together. This fascia is like a web that, when pulled, affects all surrounding tissues and joints. Injury, surgical procedures and chronic stress can create Myofascial restrictions that can pull bony structures out of perfect alignment. This tension can lead to decreased range of motion, pain, headaches and lack of mobility.

Many clients arrive at Breath Body Works after a series of tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, etc.) have led to an unresolved understanding of the origin of their pain. Their physicians have prescribed pain and anti-inflammatory medications along with muscles relaxers for temporary relief.

When fascia hardens in an area it may create tension on adjacent pain-sensitive structures as well as on structures in other areas. The fascia is interconnected so a restriction in one region can theoretically put “drag” on fascia in a seemingly unrelated area of the body. This is the reason medical professionals find their patients have pain that appears to be unrelated to their original injury or their primary complaint.

Pricing:
Sessions are 90 mins and $180

What To Expect At Your Appointment

  • Extensive review of your medical history.

  • Discussion involving any pain you may be experiencing.

  • Evaluation as an individual.

  • Detect restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to release the fascia.

  • The release of restricted tissue may release metabolic waste into your blood stream so drinking fluids after your appointment is recommended.

Guided Meditation

Meditation serves as a powerful complement to my therapeutic modalities. I guide clients in cultivating mindfulness and presence, allowing them to deepen their connection with their bodies and inner selves. Through meditation, individuals develop a greater sense of self-awareness, relaxation, and clarity, which further supports their healing journey.
